SafeYouth Listserv Policy
April, 2008
The SafeYouth Listserv is operated by the National Youth Violence Prevention Resource Center (NYVPRC). The NYVPRC is an online forum to facilitate networking and collaboration among key changes agents in communities—local government leaders and community leaders—and provide these key agents with resources and training and technical assistance to support their efforts to plan, implement, and evaluate effective youth violence prevention efforts in their communities.
The NYVPRC is sponsored by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Federal partners working on youth violence.
The SafeYouth Listserv facilitates information sharing among local government and community leaders concerned about youth violence and involved in youth violence prevention activities.
This policy ensures that Listserv content is relevant and objective for all of our subscribers and compliant with Federal regulations on lobbying and political activities. As a U.S. Government resource, the SafeYouth Listserv cannot be used to advertise, endorse, or sell commercial items; promote legislative initiatives or lobby other effort; or distribute petitions. The SafeYouth Listserv can not be used for survey purposes or the collection of any data.
The NYVPRC reserves the right to reject any posting that, in its judgment, violates the Listserv policy.

Posts that promote an individual's own journal articles, books, etc., in the field of youth violence prevention will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, because the publication may be useful to others in the field. However, the NYVPRC is wary of materials that have not been subject to a rigorous peer-review process. When we release such a post to our subscribers, we will attach a disclaimer:
NYVPRC is sharing this information as a service to the readers of the SafeYouth mailing list. We do not have the resources to review individual publications that are not produced by the US Government, nor can we edit or check facts in individual postings.
